Trouble In Paradise – Moraine Lake Details

36 x 48 Oil on Canvas – $12,500.00

While the initial response I hoped to achieve with this painting was one of majesty and serenity, I also wanted an underlying sense of potential danger or discord. Though the moment portrayed is one of peace and solitude, the moment to follow may be very different with a male Grizzly getting much too close for Mom’s comfort. Just as I strove for a balance between moments within the story, I also wanted to technically strike a balance between detail and brush work. This close-up illustrates the fluctuation I utilized between areas of heavier detail and harder edges, mixed with intermittent broader strokes and softer transitions.
